TEEN Mom star Cory Wharton hopes that appearing on The Challenge will prove to girlfriend Taylor Selfridge that she can “trust him”, as she plans for their unborn baby.
Fans saw Cory on the premiere of the new season of the reality game show in early April, but a new clip for this week’s Teen Mom OG reveals how he made the decision to take part.
“I just got off the phone with The Challenge, and they said they need an answer soon,” he tells girlfriend Taylor, who is doing the dishes.
“Obviously I still want to talk to Cheyenne but it’s tricky because I gave her a hard time a while back about not having Ryder as her first priority, but I want to go, try and compete again,” said the father-of-one, who welcomed Ryder with former partner Cheyenne Floyd.
Taylor doesn’t appear enthused, and although she says no when asked if she is scared, the young star breaks down in tears.
“I think it’s a good opportunity for me to show you that you can trust me,” says Cory “that we keep this thing like this, we be alright”.
Fans were left outraged when the season premiere aired on MTV and the 29-year-old revealed he had plans to win the show’s million-dollar prize for his girlfriend and their unborn baby, but didn’t mention his two-year-old daughter Ryder.
He said: “My girlfriend Taylor is pregnant, we are expecting a kid, so I need to win this one million dollars. Not only for me, but for Taylor and our new baby.”
After Cory’s statement, fans slammed the reality star dad on Twitter.
One fan tweeted at Cory: “I’m disgusted that your interview said you need to win the money for Taylor and your new baby. “What about Ryder and Cheyenne? D**k move.”
Another wrote: “He didn’t mention [Ryder] in the episode…bad look my dude.”
Another viewer tweeted at Cory: “[What the f**k man] that money not for your current kid too?
“Damn, hella rude. Poor Ryder.”
