Tech support firm AND Digital to create 100 jobs at new Scots base

A company that has helped British Airways, Diageo and Whitbread to build digital products is to create 100 staff jobs in Edinburgh after securing an £11 million investment from the Business Growth Fund (BGF).

AND Digital, which is based in Maidenhead, will create the Scottish roles over the next 18 months, including user experience designers, platform developers, and product analysts. The company was founded in 2014 and now employs more than 600 people spread across the UK in offices, which it calls “clubs”.

Founder and chief executive Paramjit Uppal said: “AND was created to accelerate the digital capabilities of ambitious organisations of all sizes, but while technology is seen as an essential key to success, the digital skills gap can prevent businesses from realising their investment in technology as quickly or as completely as they’d like.

“We provide immediate access to the tech talent they require and co-create their products in partnership with them. Not only does that mean a better digital product shipped faster, but it also means our clients are building the digital skills of their in-house teams, effectively future proofing them for on-going success.

“Scotland’s digital and tech sector has a worldwide reputation. The country is at the forefront of digital innovation, demonstrating global impact in many growth industries including robotics, space and data driven innovation. We’re proud to be joining such a thriving tech community to collaborate with a diverse range of businesses and help them to achieve their digital ambitions.”

The BGF was launched in 2011 by Barclays, HSBC, Lloyds, Royal Bank of Scotland and Standard Chartered. It takes a minority equity stake in fast-growing companies in return for long-term growth funding.

The investor, which has offices in Aberdeen and Edinburgh, holds stakes in Scottish companies including offshore caterer Entier, Keenan Recycling and Morph Costumes. Its previous investments north of the border have included Bar Soba, opticians’ chain Duncan & Todd, and tax credit specialist Jumpstart.
