Tearful Danny Cipriani reveals details of Caroline Flack's final voicemail

Danny Cipriani has spoken out following the tragic death of Caroline Flack.

The rugby star, 32, said he felt compelled to bare his soul in an emotional Instagram video after his ex girlfriend took her on life on Saturday.

Danny, who was linked to the former Love Island host last year, told followers how Caroline decided to call him in her last “broken” moments.

But he sadly missed her call because he was on the rugby field, leaving him distraught when he found out the news.

Racked with guilt, the sports star has been unable to stop crying and says he has been spurred on to share his story – and what was in the voicemail -with the world.

The sportsman’s voice cracked as he opened up about what troubled Caroline had said to him.

He said: “The voicenote she sent me when she was broken and moved on…

“She spent the last twenty seconds asking how I am and how’s rugby and how’s this?”

“How much love and trust did she have for me? Because we had been vulnerable and shared together.

“She felt it was a safe space [to talk to me] so I thank her for that,” said Danny. “And I felt safe with her.”

Danny then vowed that he would make Caroline’s message public.

He added: “I’m gonna play the messages at some point. The voicenote she left about 15 days ago because people need to hear it.”

He also revealed Caroline texted him on Valentine’s Day, the day before she died, saying she ‘had to’ plead guilty to her assault case.

Caroline, 40, was three weeks away from standing trial for allegedly attacking boyfriend Lewis Burton with a lamp.

The TV star’s friends said she was “terrified” about the upcoming court case and took her own life after learning the case would still be going ahead.

In the emotional clip, Danny also revealed his own 12-year battle with depression, and tells of the time when he tried to buy a gun because he wanted to end his life when he was 22.

Danny – who had been seeing a therapist for nine months at the time – recalled his constant battle with himself over whether to buy the gun from a man he met in a club.

But he said it was the “fight” in him that gave him the determination to live following his darkest hours which stretched over two months.

In the heartbreaking footage, Danny said: “I just have to thank everyone who has been kind, and want to ask them to continue to be kind.

“She was dealing with it for 20 years, I only had 12, some people don’t have the fight in them for 20 years of that.

“I’m doing this for her, you don’t need to understand.”
