Teacher proves how dirty children’s laptops are with stomach-churning moudly bread experiment

WHEN you’re working in a school surrounded by germs, catching your student’s coughs and colds should basically be in the job description.

That said, an American teacher has come up with a genius way of educating children about germs using slices of fresh bread – and the photos are horrifying to say the least.

Dayna Robertson, 38, and behaviour specialist Jaralee Metcalf, 23, wanted to teach the children in their class how important is to wash their hands.

Using five pieces of white bread, the teacher invited all the students to touch the first slice before storing it in a ziplock bag.

After they’d washed their hands, the 17 students then poked the second slice of bread and for the third, they simply cleaned their hands with sanitiser.

Sharing details of the experiment on Facebook, Jaralee wrote: “Then we decided to rub a piece on all our classroom Chromebooks.”

Three weeks later, the students revisited the pieces of bread – and were rightly horrified by the ones that had been wiped across their laptops.

The entire slice had turned dark blue and had a couple of patches of white mould too.

Where the slice that had been touched with clean hands was largely unchanged, the bread that had been handled with dirty hands and sanitiser had developed large patches of mould.

Jaralee added: “As somebody who is sick and tired of being sick and tired of being sick and tired.

“Wash your hands! Remind your kids to wash their hands! And hand sanitiser is not an alternative to washing hands! At all! This is so DISGUSTING!!!”

Since Jaralee shared the findings of the experiment earlier this month, her post has racked up more than 64,000 shares and 17,000 “likes”.

One user replied: “I have always said soap and water is much better than all that hand sanitiser.”

Another added: “This is so cool. I wanna do this at home just so my kids see why I nag them all the time to wash their hands.”

A third replied: “I want to show this post to everyone who thinks hand sanitiser is better than soap…”
