Are there any hidden meanings in Taylor Swift’s Lover album?

Of course there are – it wouldn’t be a Taylor Swift album without loads of hidden messages and stories about her life.

We take you through some what we’ve found so far:

I Forgot That You Existed

She kicks off the new album with this fun song which is basically saying goodbye to all her ex boyfriends who have caused her pain (and been behind so many of her hit songs).

It’s her way of letting go and saying you won’t be hearing about them again as she now focuses her music on the love of her life  – Joe Alwyn.

It is more than likely to be aimed at her ex Calvin Harris as they have the most bitter feud following their break up.

London Boy

Well this is of course about her “London boy” Joe  – who she has been dating for three years.

On the track – which is introduced with a quote from Idris Elba – she reveals that she has been able to live a very normal life in London.

It’s been long suspected that Taylor and Joe have been secretly living together in the capital and this song confirms this.

She talks about all her a favourite haunts including “Camden Market in the afternoon”, “walking in the Soho” and “nights in Brixton”.

Taylor also talks about hanging out and watching rugby with Joe’s friends.

Paper Rings

This song has got a wonderful upbeat tempo and reminds us a lot of Taylor from back in the day.

This tune is all about how much she wants to marry Joe and that she “loves shiny things but would marry him with paper rings”.

Taylor has made no secret that Joe is the love of her life and their are VERY serious about their future.

Soon You’ll Get Better (feat. Dixie Chicks)

This song tugs at the old heart strings as the tune is about her mum’s battle with cancer.

It’s devastating and is Taylor’s most emotional song on the album.

Taylor announced in March 2019 that her mother’s cancer had returned, and this song, speaks to the singer’s relationship to her mum’s illness.

She sings: “And I hate to make this all about me. But who am I supposed to talk to? What am I supposed to do? If there is no you.”

“It’s been years of hoping and I keep saying it cause I have to – you’ll get better.”

This moving song definitely has you reaching for the tissues.
