Taylor Swift’s Exile featuring Bon Iver is making people ugly cry

Taylor Swift has left Swifties reaching for the tissues after they heard her emotional duet with Bon Iver.

Titled Exile, the song featured the gruff-voiced Justin Vernon and saw the pair sing a tender ballad about a failing relationship which both lovers view as a war.

Lyrics include: “You’re not my homeland anymore/So what am I defending now?

“You were my town, now I’m in exile, seein’ you out.”

Fans have gone wild for the hotly-anticipated collaboration, taking to Twitter to praise 32-year-old Swift for the heart-wrenching song.

One fan claimed it was going to be her new go-to karaoke classic.

Another fan described Exile as “a lyrical masterpiece”.

A Swift enthusiast described it as Swift’s “best collab ever”.

But for the most part, Exile just made listeners cry.

Swift announced on Instagram that she was to be releasing her eighth studio album as a surprise, having recorded it in lockdown.

The 30-year-old also gushed about having worked with some of her “musical heroes” on her latest efforts.

“I’ve poured all of my whims, dreams, fears, and musings into [this album],” she said. “I wrote and recorded this music in isolation but got to collaborate with some musical heroes of mine.

“Before this year I probably would’ve overthought when to release this music at the ‘perfect’ time, but the times we’re living in keep reminding me that nothing is guaranteed.

“My gut is telling me that if you make something you love, you should just put it out into the world. That’s the side of uncertainty I can get on board with.

“Love you guys so much.”
