Swifties know Taylor Swift loves to tease her fans with hidden messages in her posts, but she kicked off the five-day countdown to her new album, Lover, by trolling fans.

Fans were convinced earlier this year that Taylor, 29, had started the countdown to new music after they noticed what they believed to be clues in her Instagram posts.

They thought the seven palm trees in one picture, followed by Taylor sitting six steps up on a staircase and then looking through a fence with five holes visible was a subtle countdown to new music back in February, but it turned out that the numbers were purely coincidental.

To celebrate five days until the release of Lover, Taylor reposted the now infamous fence picture with the caption: ’Okay NOW there are five holes in the fence’.

Lover will be released on Friday 23 August, and will be Taylor’s seventh studio album and fans have already been given a taste of what to expect with four of the singles being released already.

She treated fans to the first single, Me! with Panic! At The Disco’s Brendan Urie in April, You Need To Calm Down in June, The Archer in July and the title track, Lover, in August ahead of the album release.

Taylor also shared the album’s track listing this week, revealing to fans that they would be getting 18 songs on the new record, the most she has ever put out on one album.

As well as her Brandon Urie collab, Taylor has also teamed up with Dixie Chicks on Soon You’ll Get Better as the two collaborations on the album.

Taylor’s famous for teasing fans with hidden Easter eggs in her posts, and with four more days to go until the big release, everyone’s going to keep a close eye on Taylor’s social media accounts.
