Taylor Swift set to beat Michael Jackson’s record of the most AMAs after Artist Of The Decade win

TAYLOR Swift looks set to beat King of Pop Michael Jackson’s American Music Awards record after being named its Artist of the Decade.

The Lover singer, 29, currently has 23 AMAs, and when she receives the coveted award next month will equal MJ’s 24-gong haul.

However, with five other nominations, Taylor looks set to leapfrog him and become the most decorated musician in the show’s history.

The AMAs announced Taylor will perform at the ceremony with this tweet: “She’s won more #AMAs than anyone this decade… She’s a five-time 2019 #AMAs nominee… AND she’s performing at this year’s #AMAs LIVE on Nov. 24… @taylorswift13 is our ARTIST OF THE DECADE”.

The pop superstar is also battling for the Favourite Music Video, Favourite Female Artist, Favourite Album, Favourite Artist and Artist of the Year prizes.

She faces stiff competition in the most prestigious category – Artist of the Year – with Ariana Grande and Post Malone also hoping to win.

It’s been a big year for Taylor with her seventh album Lover entering the Billboard chart at number one, and all 18 of its tracks entering the singles Hot 100 chart at the same time, setting a new record.

And she’s among the favourites to headline next year’s Glastonbury Festival as the iconic music event celebrates its 50th anniversary.
