Taylor Swift sends fans into meltdown as she confirms new music is on the way

Taylor Swift has confirmed new music is definitely on the way, sending her army of fans into a frenzy of anticipation.

The Delicate singer, who has been teasing an announcement on Friday, told fans in an Instagram video about how she commissioned a mural in her hometown Tennessee in promotion of new music.

Swift said fans had been doubtful she was behind the artwork, while casually confirming that a “new song and new music” is on the way, which fans speculated was hinting at an album.

She then went to meet fans at the mural.

Swift told her followers: “I went on Tumblr and everyone thinks [the mural is] not—they think it’s fake. They think it’s just like one of their theories.

“So we’ve commissioned this butterfly mural to be painted on a wall on Nashville and put clues about the song and the new music in the mural.

“So I’m going to show up. The butterfly mural is painted by Kelsey Montague, who painted one of my favourite murals in New York. And let’s go see what happens.”

The video sparked a meltdown amongst die-hard Swifties who took to social media to discuss their excitement ahead of the official announcement.

One user wrote: “TAYLOR SWIFT CONFIRMED NEW MUSIC IN HER INSTA STORY…THIS IS NOT A DRILL.”

Another added: “Taylor herself CONFIRMED that we’re getting a new song. I’m SO READY.”

“Taylor Swift confirmed it was new music. I’m fine. Everything’s fine,” wrote a third.

The news surfaced just hours ahead of Swift’s big announcement, which has been teased as part of a pastel-themed campaign.

She also attended the Time 100 gala on Tuesday evening in a princess-perfect gown following the same colour scheme.

The Ready For It songstress first sent the rumour mill into overdrive after she flooded her Instagram page with pictures in pink hues earlier this year.

The album would mark Swift’s seventh studio release on the back of her 2017 hit album Reputation and will also be her first release under new record deal with Republic Records and Universal Music Group.
