Taylor Swift has accused Donald Trump of “stoking the fires of white supremacy” after his tweet about Minnesota protests following the death of George Floyd.

The US president called the protesters “thugs” and suggested they could be shot if the looting continued.

Floyd was killed by police on Monday after an officer knelt on his back for five minutes.

Taking to Twitter, Taylor singer, 30, declared that Trump would be voted out in the presidential election in November as she shared her outrage over his tweet.

Taylor said: “After stoking the fires of white supremacy and racism your entire presidency, you have the nerve to feign moral superiority before threatening violence?

He tweeted: “These THUGS are dishonoring the memory of George Floyd, and I won’t let that happen.

“Just spoke to Governor Tim Walz and told him that the Military is with him all the way.
