Taylor Swift Lover lyrics: Singer prompts Joe Alwyn engagement speculation AGAIN with new track

Taylor Swift’s new single Lover has left fans speculating over whether the star is engaged to boyfriend Joe Alwyn.

The singer released a lyric video for the track, which is her third release from upcoming studio album Lover, this morning.

The song sees Swift return to her country roots after the more mainstream tracks ME!, a collaboration with Panic! At the Disco’s Brendan Urie, and You Need To Calm Down.

She refers to wedding vows as she sings: “Ladies and gentleman / Will you please stand / With every guitar string scar on my hand / I take this magnetic force of a man / To be my lover.”

The lines “I’ve loved you three summers now, honey / And I want them all” are also thought to be a reference to her relationship with British actor Alwyn, who she was first linked to in 2016.

She previously teased lyrics from Lover in her interview with US Vogue, with fans noting the references to bridal traditions in the lyrics: “My heart’s been borrowed / And yours has been blue / All’s well that ends well / To end up with you.”

The singer is known for placing hints and Easter eggs for fans in her lyrics and videos, and has often explored her personal life and high profile relationships in her music.

Fans on Twitter rushed to share their theories, with one user writing: “At this point I’m fully convinced @taylorswift13 has gotten secretly married or just engaged.”

“Why do I feel like she’s addressing that she’s engaged?!?!” another said. The lyrics, the everything. Too pure.

“I bet you all $100 that the Easter eggs show that @taylorswift13 is engaged and that her announcement will be the video next week,” a third added, referring to the Lover music video which is set to be released on August 22

Earlier this week, Swift asked her fans to get behind the US Women’s football team’s campaign for gender equality as she accepted the inaugural Icon Award at the 2019 Teen Choice Awards.

The singer said that it was an “honour” to be presented with a personalised surfboard trophy by US footballer Alex Morgan and went on to praise their “historic stand” on the pay gap.

“While they were winning the World Cup, they were also taking a historic stand in terms of gender equality, gender pay gaps,” she said.

Please, please support her and her teammates because this isn’t over yet. It’s not resolved.

Taylor Swift’s album Lover will be released on August 23.
