Taylor Swift has broken her silence about her ties to Harvey Weinstein amid the sexual misconduct allegations against him, declaring her support for his alleged victims.

Weinstein, 67, is accused of behaving inappropriately with a large number of women, notably actresses in Hollywood, which sparked the #MeToo movement in 2017.

Since then, Taylor has faced pressure to address her links to the movie producer.

The 29-year-old popstar earned a Golden Globe nomination for a song she wrote for Weinstein’s rom-com One Chance, while he later bagged her a supporting role in 2014 sci-fi The Giver. Weinstein was also in attendance at the launch party for Taylor’s 1989 album.

Detailing the extent of her relationship with Weinstein, Taylor told The Guardian: ‘He’d call my management and be like, “Does she have a song for this film?” And I’d be like, “Here it is”.

‘And then I’d be at the Golden Globes. I absolutely never hung out.’

The ME! singer continued: ‘And I would get a vibe – I would never vouch for him. I believe women who come forward, I believe victims who come forward, I believe men who come forward.

‘If you listen to the stories, he picked people who were vulnerable, in his opinion. It seemed like it was a power thing. So, to me, that doesn’t say anything – that I wasn’t in that situation.’

Taylor was famously at the center of a sexual assault incident herself back in 2013.

The popstar was groped by DJ David Mueller at a meet-and-greet in Colorado and won a court case in 2017 after suing him for $1 (£81p).

Weinstein has denied all allegations of non-consensual sex and remains free on $1 million (£806,000) bail.

In May, it was reported that the disgraced producer was close to agreeing a ‘tentative’ $44 million (£35 million) deal to resolve lawsuits and compensate alleged victims.
