Taylor Swift has been known to financially help out fans in need and after coming across the stories of two mothers who are struggling during the coronavirus pandemic, she’s been digging into her pocket once again.

The singer, 30, read about the two women in a story published by The Washington Post that highlighted how some Americans were struggling when it comes to money, thanks to the impact of Covid-19.

Seeking out their GoFundMe pages, Taylor decided to give both Nikki Cornwell, a mother-of-two from Nashville, Tennessee, and Shelbie Selewski from Michigan a very generous handout of $13,000 each (around £9,700).

Nikki had shared her fears of being evicted from her home after Christmas, as she was thousands of dollars behind on her rent. She was due to start a new job in May, but it fell through after she tested positive for coronavirus.

Along with her donation, Taylor left a message for Nikki that read: ‘Nikki, I read about you in the Washington Post and thought it was really brave of you to share your story.

‘I’m so sorry for everything you’ve had to go through this year and wanted to send you this gift, from one Nashville girl to another. Love, Taylor.’

Shelbie, meanwhile, had lost her job as a medical receptionist and was forced to stay home to look after her newborn baby who was born with a collapsed lung.

Taylor told her: ‘Shelbie, I’m sending you this gift after reading about you in the Washington Post. No one should have to feel the kind of stress that’s been put on you. I hope you and your beautiful family have a great holiday season. Love, Taylor.’

It’s not the first time Taylor has been seen giving generous donations to fans.

Earlier this year, the Shake It Off hit-maker donated $1million (£772,000) in aid of those who were impacted by a string of tornadoes that hit Tennessee in March.

She also gave £23,000 to a British maths student to help fund their dream four-year degree at Warwick University. Vitoria Mario needed to raise £40,000 for the course, with Taylor giving her the large sum so she could reach her total amount.

In April, Taylor decided to cover healthcare costs for employees at a Nashville record store called Grimey’s in order for the shop to stay afloat. She sent direct relief to its staff to cover three months worth of costs, with the store’s owner calling her decision to help out ‘heartening’.

It came as she was seen donating money to a fan, who had called for financial help online after realising they could no longer pay their rent. Taylor was on hand to offer a little financial relief, telling the fan: ‘Holly, you’ve always been there for me. I want to be there for you right now. I hope this helps. Love, Taylor.’
