Taylor Swift at Hyde Park 2020: tickets, presale and everything else about the BST headline show

What is the song about?

The four-minute festive pop song opens with the lyrics: “My winter nights are taken up by static / stress, holiday shopping, traffic / Then I close my eyes and I’m somewhere else / just like magic.”

The lyrics of the chorus are: “I love you / Just being in your arms / Takes me back to that little farm / Where every wish comes true.”

Its accompanying video starts out with a black and white footage of modern-day Taylor travelling as a passenger back to her home with headphones in, and looking wistfully out the window at the winter scenery.

We then see video footage of her as a toddler frolicking in thick snow in the garden of her childhood home – a Christmas tree farm in Wyomissing, Pennsylvania.

Later footage shows Taylor aged around five or six opening her presents, playing on a swing chair dangling near the Christmas tree and rows of stockings hanging on the fireplace, one reading “Taylor”.

We also catch glimpses of her family members as well as her childhood pet dog running around the garden.

On 6 December, she tweeted: “I actually did grow up on a Christmas tree farm. In a gingerbread house, deep within the yummy gummy gumdrop forest. Where, funnily enough, this song is their national anthem.”

Is this her first Christmas song?

Christmas Tree Farm is technically not the star’s first holiday song.

In 2007, she released a Christmas EP called The Taylor Swift Holiday Collection.

On the record she covered Wham!’s Last Christmas and Eartha Kitt’s Santa Baby among other Christmas classics.

When is Taylor Swift playing next in the UK?

The new song comes amidst speculation that Swift will headline Glastonbury for the first time in Summer 2020.

Kendrick Lamar is the other bookies’ favourite for the headline slot at the festival’s 50th anniversary edition next year.

Earlier this week it was confirmed that Swift will headline BST Hyde Park on Saturday 11 July next year, joining other headline acts Little Mix and Pearl Jam.

Swift has garnered a reputation for putting on a spectacle at her shows, from huge guests that have ranged from Camilla Cabello to Mick Jagger, to surprising stage sets including Reputation Stadium Tour’s giant inflatable snake. So we can hopefully expect something similar at her 2020 show in Hyde Park.

With tracks like You Need to Calm Down and London Boy, Lover was the top selling album in the US within just 48 hours of its release.

In addition to BST Hyde Park, Swift is also performing a run of European festival dates as part of her summer 2020 ‘Lover’ tour, however no UK dates have been confirmed at the time of writing.

It was recently announced that a new documentary on the singer-songwriter, Miss Americana, is set to debut at Sundance 2020.
