Tammy Abraham was delighted to score his first England goal during the 7-0 thrashing of Montenegro and credited his fellow ‘south-east London boy,’ Jadon Sancho, for his help.

It was an evening of complete dominance for the Three Lions at Wembley as they swatted aside their visitors to book their place at Euro 2020.

A first half hat-trick from Harry Kane, goals from Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Marcus Rashford and Aleksandar Sofranac putting through his own net put the home team 6-0 ahead.

Abraham rose from the bench, replacing Kane, and produced a smart finish in the dying minutes to make it 7-0, and grab his first goal for his country.

His goal came from some smart work and a good low cross from Sancho on the left, and Abraham recognised their similar backgrounds on Twitter.

The Chelsea striker tweeted: ‘South east London boys to Wembley @Sanchooo10 ?❤️ glad to get my first in the shirt tonight ⚽️?? celebrated @England 1000th game in style.’

Both England stars were born in Camberwell, London, and while Sancho now plies his trade in Germany with Borussia Dortmund, they clearly still recognise their roots.

Grabbing his first international goal continues a magnificent season so far for Abraham, who has found the back of the net 11 times for Chelsea in all competitions.

The 22-year-old has particularly been a hit in the Premier League, scoring 10 times in just 12 appearances, with only Jamie Vardy (11) out-scoring him in the division.

Not only did Abraham grab his first goal for the Three Lions, but Leicester City’s James Maddison also won his first cap for his country, which manager Gareth Southgate was pleased to see.

‘It’s a really special moment, on England’s 1000th game for James to get his debut, for Tammy to get his first goal are obviously moments that will live with them forever.

‘So special for them and for their families.’
