Takumi Minamino: Liverpool star reveals Sadio Mane and Naby Keita are helping him to settle at Anfield

Takumi Minamino has revealed how Sadio Mane and Naby Keita have helped him to settle in at Liverpool.

The Japan international joined the Reds for £7.25m from RB Salzburg last month.

The 25-year-old has already made four appearances for the club, but admits he has relied on the help of his teammates during the early stages of life on Merseyside as he begins to grasp English. Jurgen Klopp is able to communicate with him in German, while Mane and Keita, both of whom also played in Austria previously, have been acting as translators during his first few weeks at the club.

“You know that you are part of the team, but because my English is not good enough yet their help has been really important,” Minamino told the club’s official website.

“They are still helping me on some occasions and during the first days they taught me the team rules, things like what time the meetings started and how the team functions on a daily basis.

“At the moment I speak a lot with players who can speak German.”

Minamino has been added to Liverpool’s Champions League squad for the last 16 tie against Atletico Madrid.

And the No 18 insists he is attempting to become more aggressive to adapt quickly to the intense nature of English football.

“It is characteristic that English football has got very high intensity and is very physically tough, but that is what I expected and I have to adapt to it as quickly as possible and then I have to start playing in this style,” Minamino added.

“Yes, because I am an attacking player I have to show my attitude that I always go for shots and goals, and this is what I meant. I should have done that.”
