Take a look round John Lewis’ Christmas shop from your sofa as it launches virtual store

JOHN Lewis has launched a virtual Christmas shop – meaning you can enjoy the delights of festive shopping from the comfort of your home.

The interactive map, which launched today on John Lewis’ website, lets shoppers browse its decorations, Christmas trees and table settings in a Google Street View-style interactive map.

It’s based on its Oxford Street store and customers can use their computer, smartphone or tablet to view the virtual shop.

How it works is you can click through to “walk” around the shop floor and then click on certain items, such as a table of baubles, to see them more closely.

The sections are broken up into the Christmas Forest, the Home of Christmas and the Festive Footpath.

Its Christmas Forest has more than 40 different styles of trees to browse, including a Symphony Tree which plays seven different Christmas classics, from Carol of the Sugar Plums to Deck the Halls.

The Home of Christmas gives shoppers ideas about how to decorate their homes in a variety of styles, while the Festive Footpath has 1,500 light bulbs and dozens of baubles on display.

Its Christmas shops will open in all branches across the country from September 25 to October 5.

To find your nearest branch, use its store locator tool.

Dan Cooper, head of Christmas at John Lewis & Partners, said: “We know that Christmas might look a little different to our customers this year, with smaller celebrations at home and  video calls to loved ones.

“But we also know that many are looking forward to the small joys that the festive season brings: from decorated fireplaces to wreaths on doors. Our customers are planning earlier than ever to revel in the festivities and likely spread out the tasks to avoid any last minute rushes.

“This year we have created a Christmas shop that will of course delight and inspire our customers but we have also focused on making it a simple journey that means they can tick off their list happily and safely.”

John Lewis isn’t the only chain to launch its Christmas stock in September.

M&S is selling festive gin snow globes, which it describes as “this season’s must-sip gin”.

Home Bargains is selling Christmas Eve boxes for just £2.99, and they contain everything you need to give Father Christmas a warm welcome.

Meanwhile, Sainsbury’s Christmas 2020 food includes a pigs in blankets stuffing wreath.
