Bill and Susanna reunited briefly in November 2016, when he visited the ITV studio for a chat.

Elsewhere, the former BBC Breakfast veteran spoke candidly about his health and admitted he is doing well but added the cancer “is always there”.

He said at the time: “I’m ok at the moment. When you have cancer, it’s always there. But currently I feel really good, most of the time.

“I have changed my diet considerably and in the past few months I have felt healthier than I have in a long time.”

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays on ITV at 6am.
