Adding a few words of encouragement, the GMB host added: “So stay strong, Mike, I hope you make it to Blackpool in two weeks’ time and it proves a stick of rock in the eye to critics. Keeep dancin’!”(sic)

It comes after the BBC Breakfast sports presenter was saved by the Strictly judging panel for the third time in a row, whilst being in the dreaded dance-off against Viscountess Emma Weymouth and her professional dance partner Aljaž Škorjanec.

The pair failed to impress the judging panel with their Samba routine and opted to save Mike and Katya Jones.
