Susanna Reid: 'I can see your bra' GMB host’s dress turns 'transparent’ before live show

Susanna Reid, 48, revealed she almost exposed her bra on Good Morning Britain recently. The presenter’s wardrobe malfunction was thankfully spotted by her co-host Kate Garraway, 52, who stepped in and saved her from baring all just two minutes before the show went on air. Speaking about the mishap in her first Daily Mail column, Susanna said: “It was just before 6am and I was sitting under the bright lights of the GMB studio about to present a two-and-a-half hour show. “I knew what to grill the political guests on and where I stood on other discussion topics: innuendo in the workplace and plastic pollution at music festivals.”

In spite of her extensive preparations for the ITV daytime programme, Susanna was completely unaware about the issues posed by her outfit.

She added: “Two minutes before going live, the editor was doing a rehearsal of the headlines when my co-presenter dropped a bombshell. ‘I can see your bra,’ Kate said.

“Under the beaming studio lights, my chic red dress had gone transparent. Eeek! My bra should not be making headlines!”(sic)

Fortunately, the journalist had just enough time to change her dress before appearing on screen.

Susanna recalled: “I nipped into my dressing room, slipped on a blue shirt-dress meant for the next day’s programme and was back at the desk before you could ask: ‘Is the UK ever going to leave the EU?’”

The star explained clothing choices can often cause “problems” on the programme.

She divulged to the publication: “What we wear is fertile ground for problems to arise. Squeezing into an outfit that’s too tight or too flimsy means the back of my dress has split on more than one occasion.

“Thank goodness for the advertising breaks on ITV, which mean changes are easier than they were when I was at the BBC.”

Elsewhere, Susanna addressed a “deeply upsetting” situation she experienced alongside her co-host Piers Morgan, 54, on GMB.

The TV personality admitted she received a negative reaction online when the outspoken presenter joined the show in 2015.

“I couldn’t believe I was getting attacked for what he actually said,” Susanna commented, in a joint interview with Piers for Daily Mail’s Event Magazine.

“People were saying horrific things about me, saying I wasn’t a feminist… I found the whole thing deeply upsetting.”

Piers insisted in response that she shouldn’t care what other people think, adding: “I don’t. I couldn’t give a toss if people don’t like me.”

However, Susanna continued: “But I do. That’s why I do this job. Because I actually care what people think.

“He is the most irritating man in the world, but I’m a professional. I can work with anyone, but it was a shock to the system, and I did find it difficult to sit there trying to be neutral in my opinions while Piers spouted forth about whatever he thought, and then I would be attacked for it.”

Fortunately, the duo managed to resolve things over a drink at the time.

Piers explained: “Basically we got drunk in The Groucho Club and behaved appallingly. Then we went off to a load of gay bars in Soho and got even more drunk. And everything got sorted out.”

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
