Susanna Reid: Good Morning Britain presenter moans her birthday plans have been ‘wiped’

Susanna Reid will be enjoying the start of her birthday with her co-star Piers Morgan on Good Morning Britain today. Opening up about how she’s going to be celebrating turning 49 in her Daily Mail column, Susanna admitted she won’t be due to the upcoming General Election on Thursday.

The mother-of-three said her plans had been “wiped” as she needs to prepare and get plenty of sleep to present the results show on Friday.

Susanna spilled about her birthday as she admitted she had started the Christmas festivities earlier this year as normally turning another year older takes over.

“This year, however, almost everything is eclipsed by the General Election,” she wrote.

“Plans for my birthday on December 10 have been wiped as I need a good sleep before staying up to watch the results come in on the 12th, then presenting the big programme the next morning.”

She continued: “But I can’t allow politics to overwhelm the fun. So, to the delight of my family, I’ve decided to let Christmas arrive earlier and be bigger.”

Susanna went on to reveal she had bought a seven-foot real fir tree this year her “biggest ever”.

“This Christmas I’ve gone mad,” she admitted.

Elsewhere, the Good Morning Britain team are leading a results special on Friday morning with an extra hour of the show.

Susanna revealed the news on-air today, telling viewers: “We will be on air from six o’clock on Friday morning…”

Piers then jumped in to tell fans he will also be on the show, despite only working Monday to Wednesday.

“Election special,” he interrupted. “My weekend will not be starting on Wednesday morning like it normally does!”

He added: “Got to be dragged back in here on Friday…”

However, Susanna, who works Monday to Thursday, added to her co-star: “It’s not a full week is it?”

She explained: “Because you won’t be doing Thursday morning?”

“No, but four days is a real stretch,” Piers said. “But you know what, I’ll do it for the nation.”

“Thought you might have said you’re doing it for the money which is more honest,” Susanna laughed.
