Susan Boyle: Britain's Got Talent star shares rare throwback snap as she talks retirement

Britain’s Got Talent star Susan Boyle, 59, shocked audiences with her stunning rendition of Les Misérables ballad I Dreamed A Dream over a decade ago. While the UK is currently in lockdown amid the coronavirus pandemic, this did not stop the Scottish native for marking a new milestone.

In view of her 44,500 followers, the Britain’s Got Talent star uploaded a photo of a young Susan as she stood on the beach.

The black and white snap showed the vocalist as a child wearing a polka dot dress accompanied with a cardigan.

Susan rocked her brunette tresses in her signature bob style.

The post was captioned: “Happy Birthday Susan Boyle! #susanboyle #birthday #music #2020.”

Elsewhere, Susan recently spoke candidly about her career ahead of her birthday and the star admitted she has no intentions of stepping away from the stage.

“Age is just a number and I certainly don’t feel as if I am coming up to 59,” Susan told the Press and Journal.

“I showed people 10 years ago that age doesn’t matter, and if you want something badly enough you can succeed, regardless of age and that is something I continue to stand by.”

Speaking about her retirement, the BGT finalist admitted she’s not ready to “draw my pension” at the moment.

Susan commented: “Will I retire? Well perhaps, at some point, but I am having far too much fun to consider drawing my pension anytime soon.”

However, the Scottish native admitted she has plans to spread her wings and move into acting roles.

She added: “I’d like to do more acting in the future. Being a part of the team on set is a great feeling and I would like to do more of that.”

Meanwhile, Susan stirred up nostalgia for her fans after recently donning her audition outfit.

The singing sensation wowed her loyal supporters last month as she took to the mic to perform at the SEC Armadillo in Glasgow dressed in the gold dress that she stepped out onto the BGT set in 2009.

Susan’s official Instagram page upload a snap of the performer in the brocade dress that featured a ribbon around the waist – which is remembered from her TV show debut where she wowed Simon Cowell with a rendition of I Dreamed a Dream from musical Les Miserables.

The caption of the nostalgia evoking snap read: “Deja Vu? 11 years after her @bgt audition, Susan returned to the SEC Armadillo stage and donned the very dress she wore for that audition!

“Back for one night only, Susan surprised the audience with a quick change before her signature song, I Dreamed A Dream & of course it came with the Susan wiggle!”
