War Child UK and Children in Conflict have partnered together again for their Armistice campaign, which encourages peaceful gameplay during the month of November to coincide with Armistice Day.
From now until November 13th, Steam will host to the Armistice 2019 sale, in which gamers can save money on a number of non-violent titles, with a percentage of all proceeds going to help children affected by conflict.
Not only have a number of developers joined the initiative to donate money raised by fundraising and Steam sales to the charity, but they have also released “exclusive new non-violent content” in games such as Sunless Skies, Guns of Boom, Respawnables, Afterpulse, Shadowgun Legends, Imperia Online, and Lords Mobile.
Developers participating this year include Failbetter Games, I Got Games, Digital Legends, and Game Insight. There are also “a huge number of peace-promoting titles” from Inkle, Snap Finger Click, Brain&Brain!, Dinosaur Polo Club, Oddworld Inhabitants, Bedtime Digital Games, and Revolution Software. Outside Xbox will also host the War Child Armistice Livestream.
War Child is “striving for a world where children’s lives are no longer torn apart by war”.
“We protect, educate and stand up for the rights of children caught up in conflict,” the charity said. “We aim to reach children as early as possible when conflict breaks out, and stay to support them through their recovery – helping to keep them safe, give them an education, and equip them with skills for the future.
“War Child UK supports children whose lives have been torn apart by war. The specialist gaming team has innovative fundraising partnerships across the PC, console and mobile industries, as well as through streaming and support from the gaming community and to date has brought in a massive $4.3million through gaming”.
