Tonight’s episode of Supernatural will be the last original episode to air until further notice because of the coronavirus outbreak.

The show’s executive producer Andrew Dabb announced that the upcoming chapter, titled Destiny’s Child, will broadcast as normal, but the remainder of season 15 will be on hold.

‘This will be our last episode for a while,’ Dabb wrote to his followers on Twitter.

He then continued: ‘We have filmed through episode 18, however our visual effects and sound departments have closed because of the outbreak.

‘So, right now, the episodes can’t be finished. However, have some special treats coming along the way– to help us all get through this.)’

And there’s no reason to fear, as Dabb added: ‘We, The CW, and Warner Bros. fully intend to return and finish the series. It’s not a matter of “if”, it’s a matter of “when”.’

It’s not the only show that has been thrown into disarray amid the global Covid-19 pandemic, with Netflix pulling the plug on all scripted TV and films in the US and Canada.

Tonight’s episode is set to be a corker, with the official synopsis teasing: ‘A search for the one thing that may give the Winchesters an edge against God leads Sam and Dean to Jo’s door and to a secret that may have died with Ruby.

Meanwhile, Castiel asks Jack to do the unthinkable to help the brothers in their quest.’

Supernatural’s final season as announced last March, with cast members Jared Padalecki, Jensen Ackles and Misha Collins sharing the heartbreaking news in a video.

Supernatural airs tonight on The CW in the US.
