Supermodel Kendall Jenner reveals she was told to 'take the shirt off'

Kendall Jenner has detailed being told to ‘take her shirt off’ when she walked in her first-ever show just after she turned 18.

The catwalk queen, 24, explained why her ‘boobs were out’ during her runway debut as she discussed the industry with Tracee Ellis-Ross while appearing on The Late Late Show on Tuesday night.

Kendall – who is the highest-paid model in the world, earning $22.5 million in just one year – admitted she was encouraged to take her clothes off after turning 18.

Tracee, 47, recalled modelling at age 19 with her ‘boobies out’ adding that Naomi Campbell, 49, told her that if she was a model you ‘wear what they give you’.

Kendall shared that she had the same experience and added: ‘My mum would probably have said the same…

Jumping in, host Harry Styles quipped: ‘Modelling sounds fun!’

Kendall began modeling at age 14 when Wilhelmina Models signed her. In a bid to launch a high fashion career, she later signed with The Society Management in 2013.

The stunning brunette was ranked 2018’s highest-paid model after she made a whopping $22.5 million through shows, shoots and campaigns.

According to Forbes, she edged out supermodel-turned-coding-advocate Karlie Kloss, who earned $13 million that year.

Yet Kendall’s start in modelling wasn’t easy, and the star was reportedly ‘bullied’ by her fellow models when she took part in her first runway shows.

During 2014’s New York Fashion Week, when Kendall was just 18 years old, she was said to have been ostracized.

A source at NYFW told In Touch Weekly: ‘The other models worked so hard to get a spot on the runway and didn’t think it was fair that she was there.

‘They started acting b****y. Some even put out their cigarettes in Kendall’s drink!’

Before making it big in the fashion world, Kendall revealed her struggle to be taken seriously by casting agents who knew her from Keeping Up With The Kardashians.

She said: ‘I want to be high fashion. I want to be taken seriously. People think that this [success] just came to me. But it didn’t. What I have has almost worked against me.’

She added: ‘People didn’t take me seriously as a model…I went on castings and some people weren’t feeling me because of my name. But it was great when people didn’t recognise me. I was like, ‘Thank you. Please don’t recognise me.”

Despite her difficult start in the industry, Kendall remained determined to break into modelling thanks to the strong ‘work ethic’ that was instilled in her by her parents Kris and Caitlyn Jenner.

Speaking to V magazine, she said: ‘My parents taught me that work ethic is one of the most important keys in life, and I believe it.’

Since becoming a full time model in 2014, Kendall has gone on to walk the runways for the likes of Marc Jacobs, Givenchy, Chanel and Fendi at New York, Milan, and Paris Fashion Weeks.

Kendall has also covered US Vogue three times, as well as international versions of the magazine.

Elsewhere on the show, Kendall also took part in Spill Your Guts Or Fill Your Guts with Harry.

The duo fielded personal questions – Kendall asked him how many of his songs were about her and he asked her which of her siblings were the best and worst siblings.

They both tucked into a variety of gross food items whenever they turned down a question, including cod sperm and bull’s penis.
