Gisele Bündchen has shared dramatic video of herself rescuing a sea turtle from death after finding the animal wrapped up in abandoned fishing nets.

The 41-year-old supermodel proved she is something of a super human as she skipped into action to rescue the marine animal on a tropical beach.

Alarming footage showed Gisele rushing to the aid of the turtle which was on its back and with the rope of fights nets wrapped around its neck and flippers.

Gisele gentle unwrapped the rope from the animal before carefully scooping it up and turning it over onto – and then carried the animal back to the ocean where it was then shown swimming away.

The model, who hails from Brazil, shared footage of the dramatic rescue on her Instagram page on Saturday – attracting over one million viewers and tens of thousands of comments.

Describing the rescue operation, Gisele wrote: “Life is a series of opportunities that appear daily, and we choose what to do with them. Today was no different.

“Early this morning I was walking on the beach and Onyx started barking at a pile of ocean trash that had washed during high tide. When I came closer I saw this beautiful turtle turned upside down with a look of hopelessness and exhaustion in her eyes, her body knotted and entangled in a fishing net.

“I immediately started to free her from the net that was strangling her, but even after we got her untied, she was too tired to make her way back to the ocean.

“I didn’t think twice, I just picked her up and carry her to the water.(amazing how adrenaline can make you stronger!) I felt relieved and so happy to see her swim away freely, grateful that I was there and able to help.”

The model continued: “But there are so many other animals that unfortunately end up dying on nets like this. Today I was reminded that we must become more aware of our ways as a species and help protect all animals, it’s our choice.

“I pray that we can all rise and remember that the opportunity to change begins with a single act “

Meanwhile, on Instagram Stories, Gisele explained that many other animals do not find such fortunate fates as the one she found on the shore.

She wrote: “More than 650,000 marine animals, including dolphins, whales, seals and turtles, are killed or injured in fishing nets each year.
