Superdrug launches new same-day delivery from 300 branches

SUPERDRUG has launched a new same-day delivery service from 300 of its stores across the UK.

It means shoppers who can’t leave their home during the coronavirus crisis can get essential items and health products delivered to their door.

The “Store to Door” scheme, or rapid delivery, will be available to customers within an eight-mile radius of a participating Superdrug store.

Delivery costs start at £5.40 and are based on the distance and size of the items ordered.

Customers will be told how much they’re being charged for delivery before they pay online.

Superdrug stores have been allowed to stay open during the coronavirus epidemic as they sell essential items including toiletries and medicines.

The retailer confirmed to The Sun that it’s temporarily closed its perfume counters, removed testers from stores and will not be replenishing its cosmetic or fragrance products.

Instead, it’ll be focusing on products that are deemed essential including healthcare items and medicines.

Superdrug couldn’t give this paper a full list of the 300 shops where shoppers can get “Store to Door” delivery, but it advises customers to check online to see if their nearest shop is taking part.

The retailer has over 830 stores in the UK, which means almost 40 per cent of shops offer the new service, which is a partnership with courier service Stuart.

Since items are collected from the customer’s nearest participating store, product availability is dependent on the stock levels at that particular branch.

You’ll be able to get items sent via rapid delivery between 11am and 4pm.

Matt Walburn, eCommerce director at Superdrug says: “The courier service is something that has been in development a while.

“We’ve brought it forward urgently to help those customers who are social distancing, from visiting stores at the moment and who might be in need of essential supplies quickly.

“We’re so pleased to be able to roll it out immediately to nearly half of our estate and we hope it goes some way in helping people during this time of need.”

We’ve asked Superdrug how long it’ll offer the new delivery service for and we’ll update this article when we know more.

The Superdrug website is still taking order for standard home delivery although the retailer warns customers may experience delays due to high demand.
Superdrug charges £3 for delivery, which the website says will arrive in a maximum of 12 days.
