London Broncos climbed off the bottom of Super League at the expense of Hull KR with a third straight win.

The bottom two sides served up a physical contest where the lead changed hands three times, with both teams scoring four tries.

Morgan Smith crossed in the first half for Broncos before tries from Alex Walker, Jordan Abdull and Rob Butler.

Weller Hauraki, Adam Quinlan, Chris Atkin and Josh Drinkwater went over for the Robins who let an 18-8 lead slip.

Broncos had led 8-6 at the break before Hull KR scored 18 unanswered points with three tries either side of half-time.

But Walker narrowed the deficit soon after before man of the match Adbull was adjudged to have got fingers on a loose ball in the Hull KR in-goal area at the same time as Quinlan.

Kieran Dixon’s goal regained the lead and Butler’s score five minutes from time, his first for the club, proved decisive.

Drinkwater pulled his side back to within two points in the last two minutes but it was in vain.

Hull KR drop below 11th-placed Leeds on points difference while Broncos climb to 10th and off the bottom for the first time in three months.

London Broncos back row Luke Yates told BBC Radio London:

“After we beat St Helens, we then rolled into another win against Catalans, another top team.

“We knew Hull KR would be a really tough team as we’re both battling to stay clear of that bottom spot, so three wins on the bounce is really pleasing.

“We were really good in that first half, which made it more disappointing to concede three tries quickly after the restart. But it was great to see the character to come back again.

“We’ve shown we can beat anyone so we just want to keep going with this momentum.”

Hull KR head coach Tony Smith:

“It’s not one that got away, but I’d have liked to have seen us ask a few more questions of London in the first half.

“We left it too late to show what we’re capable of. London did what they do very well, they play their pitch exceptionally well.

“I can work with people when they’re trying. It means a lot to them, we were trying really hard to play footy, chasing a game, and you do make mistakes.

“It came off last week against Warrington to pinch it, but a few penalties conceded by us hurt us, which we need to work on.”
