Sunrise's Samantha Armyage and David Koch reveal what they REALLY think of Karl Stefanovic's return

Sunrise presenters Sam Armytage and David Koch have revealed exactly what they think of Karl Stefanovic‘s return to the Today show.

Sam told The Kyle and Jackie O Show on Wednesday that she was surprised to learn Karl was coming back, after Channel Nine sacked him as host in December 2018.

‘I didn’t see that coming,’ she confessed. 

‘I didn’t think they had much choice,’ Kochie interjected, prompting Samantha to add: ‘Well, it would seem that way.’ 

Kochie explained that, while the decision to reinstate Karl was shocking, he and Samantha are used to the fast-paced nature of the Australian TV industry. 

‘We’ve been in this game as long as you [Kyle and Jackie O] have, and we know it can all change very quickly… [Channel Nine is] a really professional organisation,’ Kochie reflected.

‘So, they’ve got a new team together, and got [Karl] back, and I wish them well… not too well!’ he jokingly said with a laugh.  

Kochie said he ‘respects Karl as a journalist’, despite their rivalry.  

Samantha meanwhile pointed out that she Karl share a long-running friendship, having once worked together as young reporters.

‘He’s a good bloke!’ she insisted.    

The blonde even admitted that Karl texted her after seeing her glossy cover-shoot for Who magazine with her new boyfriend Richard Lavender last November.  

‘[He said] how much he loved Rich’s riding boots and wanted to have a beer.. which we haven’t done, but perhaps one [day]’, Samantha mused. 

Karl and his new co-host Allison ‘Ally’ Langdon replaced Today’s Georgie Gardner and Deborah Knight this year, after months of dismal ratings for Nine.
