Sugababes set to make shock comeback as original members start making new music in secret

The hit girl band of the early noughties are set to reunite, nearly two decades after the release of their debut album.

Sugababes, also known as MKS, have confirmed that they are working on new tracks together and are planning a comeback tour.

The original members, Mutya Buena, Keisha Buchanan and Siobhan Donaghy, raised eyebrows when they posted a selfie from a recording studio over the weekend.

In an interview with The Sun, 34-year-old Mutya revealed that they were working on a “secret project” together.

She told the publication: “We’re working on new music and have a secret project that should be made public later this year.

“Plus we are working on something special for our fans that is coming out for our 20th anniversary.

“As well as the music we’ve planned a tour. We need to put it out there for everyone to see and hear us again.

Before adding: ”Everything new we are working on will be classic Sugababes/MKS sounds. I’m excited to get out there.”

After forming in 1998, the Sugababes went on to have a string of hits including One Touch and Round Round throughout the early 2000s.

In 2001, Siobhan left the group, and Mutya followed in her footsteps and quit in 2005.

Over the years, the girl band saw a number of vocalists come and go, with Jade Ewen, Heidi Range and Amelle Berrabah each calling themselves a Sugababe at various points.

Their most recent release was the single Flatline back in 2013 when Mutya, Keisha and Siobhan rebranded themselves as MKS.

Mutya told the publication: “We’ve not really stopped being together and it’s been five years now.

“We’ve been working on music but everyone’s got their own lives as well.”

Before adding: “The reaction to the picture we put online was overwhelming. “We can’t wait to get started. Next year will be our year.”
