Sugababes reunion: Mutya, Keisha and Siobhan confirm new music for 20th anniversary

The original line-up of the Sugababes have confirmed they will release new music in 2020, 20 years after their first album.

Appearing on The Graham Norton Show last night (18 October), Mutya Buena, Keisha Buchanan and Siobhan Donaghy revealed that they have been in the studio.

“We’re actually working on music and we plan to put something special together for our fans,” Buchanan said.

“It’s our 20th anniversary next year,” added Donaghy.

Pressed by Norton as to what the plans involved, Buena only replied: “We’re gonna be working on something”.

The group were on the show to perform “Flowers”, a cover of the Sweet Female Attitude single, which appears on the forthcoming compilation album Garage Classic.

The track marks the first official release by the band since they once again assumed the Sugababes name after several years recording as Mutya Keisha Siobhan.

The group recorded an ultimately unreleased album in 2011 and 2012, but only managed to release one official single, “Flatline”, in 2013.

Sugababes, who became infamous for their endlessly rotating band members, at one point featuring no vocalists from the band’s original line-up, achieved six Number One hits during their heyday.

Their most successful singles included “Push the Button”, “About You Now”, “Overload” and “Freak Like Me”.
