Succession star Brian Cox to feature in upcoming episode of The Simpsons

Scots actor Brian Cox has voiced the part of a villain in a special episode of The Simpsons.

The actor has swapped Succession for Springfield to play a ruthless debt collector on the trail of the cartoon family’s neighbour Ned Flanders. The episode, A Serious Flanders, is a two-part special and a parody of TV crime dramas.

Dundee-born Cox’s character, called Kostas Becker, becomes embroiled in a violent feud with Flanders and Homer Simpson over a bag of money.

A description of the episode reads: “When Ned Flanders finds a bag of money and donates it to an orphanage, he lands himself, and a jealous Homer, in the crosshairs of a criminal debt collector who will stop at nothing to get it back.”

Cesar Mazariegos, who wrote the episode, told how The Simpsons team were delighted to have 75-year-old Cox, who plays foul-mouthed Logan Roy in Succession, as a guest star.

He said: “We knew we wanted to get heavy hitting guest stars from prestige TV. And they don’t get much prestigier than Brian Cox.

“We were thrilled to have him on The Simpsons and thrilled he didn’t cuss us out to smithereens like Logan.”
