STV Productions hires new head of entertainment development



A leading figure in independent TV production has been appointed as head of development in STV’s entertainment team.

Josephine Brassey has vast experience in original content creation and development for UK and international television markets.

 

She joins from independent producer 12 Yard Productions where, as international head of development, she has overseen the international rollout of hit TV programmes including games show Big Star’s Little Star, comedy game show I’ll Get This and quiz programme Think Tank.

In the UK she has secured commissions for the BBC, ITV and Channel 4, including the long-running BBC quiz Perfection.

Headed up by Gary Chippington, STV Productions’ Entertainment team has a strong track record in delivering successful entertainment shows, including iconic game show Catchphrase for ITV and, most recently, relationship series Sex Tape for Channel 4.

 

The new appointment is part of an ambitious three-year growth plan, through which the business is investing £15 million in content and digital to position STV as a major creative force in Scotland and beyond.

STV Productions recently announced the appointment of leading creative talent Craig Hunter as creative director, factual and Ramy El-Bergamy as head of development, daytime & popular factual.

David Mortimer, managing director, STV Productions, said: “Josephine has a great track-record in developing hit entertainment programmes and I am delighted to welcome her to the team.

“Entertainment will be a key focus for us as we pursue our goal of establishing STV Productions as a major industry player over the next few years.”

STV Productions has made 18 series of ratings winner Antiques Road Trip along with eight series of linked programme Celebrity Antiques Road Trip, all for the BBC.

 

A further two series of Antiques Road Trip and a ninth series of Celebrity Antiques Road Trip have been commissioned for production this calendar year.

In entertainment, the company’s productions include seven series of Catchphrase for ITV, game shows And They’re Off…for Sport Relief for BBC One and Babushka for ITV Daytime,

Its quality drama output includes the recent critically-acclaimed four-part thriller The Victim for BBC One starring Kelly Macdonald an John Hannah, watched by more than 7.2 million people.
