Does the way your date speaks influence how you feel?
A survey, conducted by travel comparison site Kayak, looked into which accents Brits find the most attractive – and it has some interesting results.
The French accent topped the list for British men – with 31% of male participants ranking it as their favorite.
Whereas Italian proved the sexiest with British women, with 34% describing it as the accent mostly likely to get them hot under the collar.
Interestingly, Italian also ranked highly for men, which came in second place at 29% of votes. The Spanish accent placed third, followed by the Scandinavian accent in fourth place and the Australian accent landed in fifth place with 13%.
Women, on the other hand, voted French the second sexiest accent, followed by the Australian accent in fourth place. Coming close behind was Spanish and American, with 14% and 11% of votes respectively.
But that’s not all the study uncovered.
The ways in which a pilot’s accent can impact British fliers was also put to the test. Results found that six out of 10 Britons would make presumptions about their pilot based on the way they speak.
‘Queen’s English’ topped the list as the ‘most trusted’ accent for pilots, with a southern English accent coming close behind it in second place.
While the research may seem vast, it’s probably worth noting that the study sample size was only 1,000 people.
