Eduard Hromkovi, 23, was looking at a family tree when he noticed a Perfect resemblance to the singer-songwriter, 30. He said: “I was instantly like, ‘holy s*** – that is literally Ed Sheeran!’.”
Eduard, from Copenhagen, Denmark, is not in contact with his great aunt and doesn’t even know her name.
But she’s no Galway Girl as the student believes she is in her 80s and lives near the Czech capital Prague.
And he said he doesn’t reckon there are any family links to British-born Sheeran – apart from his similar first name. But he added: “I have talked to a couple of my family members, asking them to check the picture out and everyone [has] had a very similar reaction.
“I instantly shared the picture [with my friends], and it became kind of a legend! I really don’t think she has any idea about Ed being her doppelganger.
“But, considering his music plays in our local radios quite a bit, I think she knows who he is.”
Eduard believes his great aunt is between 18 and 20 years old in the photo.
He added: “As far as I know, there is no connection to Ed whatsoever, despite the fact that she looks exactly like him.”
The photo was dug out for a family reunion in 2017, but just this week Eduard remembered he’d taken a picture of it and posted it on Reddit.
It amassed more than 50,000 upvotes – with many people pointing out that his great aunt also looks like actor Michael Cera, 33.
