Strictly’s Kevin Clifton says he keeps trophy he won with Stacey on bedside table

The 37-year-old professional said it will take pride of place in their bedroom until he has to hand it over to the next winner. Kevin has no chance of holding on to the glitterball this year as he and his celebrity dance partner Anneka Rice, 61, were booted out of the contest in the second week. Speaking about last year’s triumph, Kevin said: “I went home, put the glitterball on the bedside table and sat in bed having a cup of tea.

“The trophy hasn’t moved since, so it’s the first thing I see every morning and the last thing I see at night!” He added: “When we won, I was overwhelmed. We honestly did not expect it.

“Normally, while waiting for the result in the finals, I’m really nervous but that was the most calm I’ve been.

“When Tess said our names, it was just complete shock. I was trying to hold myself together but my legs just gave way. It was a beautiful night.”

Last night Alex Scott and Neil Jones scored 34 for their performance which was described by Craig Revel-Horwood as “powerful and theatrical”.

And Anton Du Beke, 53, was left flabbergasted as he broke a 17 series duck by scoring his first ever 10s, getting two top scores for the American smooth with partner, EastEnders’ Emma Barton.
