Strictly’s Kelvin Fletcher is ‘no longer in the lineup for Dancing on Ice’… following claims he ‘impressed ITV bosses with his performances’

Strictly Come Dancing star Kelvin Fletcher is reportedly no longer being considered for the upcoming series of Dancing On Ice.

A source told MailOnline that the Emmerdale star, 35, cannot be considered for the ITV show due to contractual obligations, despite claims he impressed bosses with his dancing skills.

It comes as Kelvin is still being branded the front-runner for this year’s Strictly after surprised viewers with his incredible dance moves, after he was drafted in as a last-minute replacement for injured Jamie Laing.

It comes after it was reported that Kelvin was still in the running for this year’s Dancing On Ice, after his lauded hip action caught the eye of ITV bosses, who reached out to encourage him to join the show. 

A source told The Sun: ‘The door is still being left open for Kelvin to return to DOI.

‘He had been agonising for ages whether to take up the Strictly opportunity after being so far in advanced stages of talks with DOI. But they still want him on the show for potentially the series after next.’

MailOnline has contacted representatives for Kelvin Fletcher and ITV for comment.

Kelvin is partnered with professional dancer Oti Mabuse, 29, after he stepped in as a last minute replacement for injured Jamie Laing. 

So far, judge Bruno Tonioli has called their opening samba the best he has seen during his 15 years on the show – it gained 32 points.

The professional racing driver took Jamie’s place in the competition after the Made In Chelsea star was injured in a bad fall during the show’s rehearsals.

It comes after Kelvin revealed he works out at 5am before commencing his 12-hour dance rehearsals in order to maintain his rippling muscular physique.

He detailed the secrets behind his hunky frame which also includes eating 3,000 calories a day to keep his energy up.

During an interview with GQ, Kelvin revealed that his intense 90 minute gym sessions are usually followed by a breakfast of scrambled eggs on toast and yogurt.

Kelvin’s training with his dance partner Oti kick-starts at 10am and he will eventually get home at around 10:30pm to have his dinner and head to bed.

On top of his high calorie intake, the soap star also tries to drink four litres of water a day in order to stay hydrated during the gruelling sessions.

He revealed: ‘I’m on my feet all day. It’s quite tiring, so I’ve always been quite pro carbs – I think they’re a great thing. I probably eat about 300-350g of carbs a day.’

Kelvin also divulged that it usually takes him less than a day to learn the week’s routine off by heart, before spending the rest of the week nailing it.

However he admitted his taxing schedule has taken its toll on his family life, as he only has a small segment of time with his children in the morning.

He said: ‘It’s not a lot at all. By the time I get home I’ve missed bath time and story time – that’s a challenging thing…

‘Every night I’m getting home late. I miss my 7pm tea – dinner, whatever you call your evening meal – and I’ll have it at 10.30pm at night.’
