Strictly’s Katya Jones talks ‘toughest start to week’ with Adam Peaty after ’near kiss’

Katya Jones, 32, and Adam Peaty, 26, sizzled on Strictly Come Dancing last weekend as they performed a raunchy Argentine Tango that sparked a frenzy amongst BBC viewers, who claimed the pair “almost kissed”. Now, the Russian-born dance professional has admitted the pair had the “toughest start” to the week as she spoke out on Twitter this evening.

Tonight the dance duo wowed in double denim outfits as they performed a Samba to George Michael’s Faith.

Katya typed: “So proud of him! The toughest start of the week we’ve had so far, and having such amazing comments from the judges for his technical improvement was like a honey on my heart! Proud teacher!”

In response to her comments, fans applauded her for being a “great teacher” and being the driving force behind Adam’s technical improvement.

@Avery_Aston said: “@Mrs_katjones Katya I have to agree, Adam has shown great technical improvements and I say this, ‘The sky’s the limit.’”

While @AndrewxxP commented: “You’re a great teacher. Deserve to be proud x.”

@Cazarell replied: “@Mrs_katjones Love your choreography amazing as usual.”

The Strictly duo appeared close to kissing at the end of Saturday’s routine after viewers noted the “intensity” of their performance.

The steamy dance amazed the judges and placed them near the top of the leaderboard.

Appearing on Friday’s Strictly: It Takes Two, Rylan Clark Neal, 32, couldn’t resist probing the couple about the routine.

“It was amazing, I really, really felt at home there,” he gushed.

When Strictly pro-Katya was asked what she thought of the intimate dance routine, she explained: “The thing is that we kept getting different comments from the judges.

“We were working on our technique really hard but they kept saying, ‘Oh you know, you’re just not connecting to the music or the emotion’.

“So we started to think completely differently and thought, ‘Right, what do they want from me and what’s the emotion attached to it?’
