Strictly viewers swoon over Scot JJ Chalmers as his pairing is revealed

Strictly Come Dancing viewers have fallen in love with Scots contestant JJ Chalmers already.

The ex- Royal Marine featured on the pre-series 18 episode of the popular BBC reality show on Saturday evening.

All the celebrities taking part were introduced to their professional partners, who will be dancing together for the next couple of months.

It was revealed that JJ, from Edinburgh, will be paired up with dancer Amy Dowden for this year’s edition of the programme.

Taking to Twitter shortly after, he expressed how excited he is to work with the 29-year-old.

He wrote: “I’m still lost for words as to how lucky I am to be partnered with the amazing @dowden_amy.

“I’m ready to work hard and she is ready to make sure I do!”

“This is all very real now, good luck to everyone, let’s do this!”

But the ex-serviceman and Invictus Games medalist stopped short at addressing something else on the social media website.

Floods of viewers were quick to comment on the 33-year-old’s good looks as he sauntered onto the show in an impressive purple suit.

One person wrote: “Wow, the suit, the hair, the glasses – seriously on point! Want want want the suit and glasses obviously – oh, and the beard. Looking sharp #JJChalmers.

Another said: “JJ Chalmers is very pretty and I’m looking respectfully…”

“I am bestotted by JJ Chalmers”, commented another.

This year’s show will undergo a different format, with only 12 couples taking to the dancefloor in order to comply with coronavirus guidelines.

The professionals had all been isolating together in a hotel so they could pre-record each of the group dances, which will air at the beginning of each episode throughout the series.

Tess Daly and Claudia Winkelman will be on the host duties, but they will have to stick to strict social distancing rules.

Other celebrities taking part alongside JJ include comedian Bill Bailey, Made in Chelsea’s Jamie Laing and BBC Radio 1 DJ Clara Amfo.
