Strictly final: Kelvin Fletcher's dad breaks down from the audience over his son's victory


Kelvin Fletcher and his professional partner Oti Mabuse were announced as the winners of this year’s Strictly Come Dancing on Saturday evening.

And fans focused their attention on his father’s emotional display as the champ’s doting parent was spotted breaking down in tears over his successful stint.

Warren Fletcher was left speechless as he sobbed from the sidelines alongside Kelvin’s mother and his wife Liz Marsland, with viewers admitting they were ‘in bits’ over his emotional appearance.

The King of The Dancefloor’s parent couldn’t contain his happiness as he cheered on the former Emmerdale star, 35, before sharing a hug with his wife.

Viewers praised Warren for his support towards the actor, with one tweeting: ‘I think your dad’s reaction last night had us all in bits! You did it because you worked so hard and we loved your partnership with Oti. You had me at week 1 Samba!’

‘You were amazing!!! So happy for you and Oti and your lovely family – especially your Dad!! What a darlin’ he is!!’, a second wrote.

The third added: ‘Massive congrats to you both. That show dance was the best thing I’ve ever seen on Strictly. You two were my winners from the start so I was ecstatic for you, and your Dad and Motsi crying had me crying along with them.’

After his win, Kelvin expressed his gratitude towards his loyal fanbase. He tweeted on Sunday: ‘I’m still speechless!

The Oldham native beat out actor Karim Zeroual and EastEnders star Emma Barton for the top spot.

Kelvin only joined Strictly at the last minute, after Made In Chelsea star Jamie Laing was forced to pull out after suffering a foot injury during rehearsals for the launch show.

When his stint was unveiled, a delighted Kelvin enthused taking part in the show was a ‘dream come true’.

The hunk said in an Instagram post back in September: ‘Hey guys, just thought I’d say how just absolutely I’m overwhelmed by the response I’ve been receiving so far. I can’t believe it, it’s a dream come true.’

Admitting he’s not the best dancer, the racing driver added: ‘Those who know me, after a few beers, I love music and I love to dance, but that doesn’t mean I’ll be any good! Once you put choreography and a few dance moves, who knows?’

This year’s Strictly has been fraught with drama after Paralympic star Will Bayley was also forced to pull out mid-series with a knee injury. 

James was the first celebrity to be eliminated from Strictly alongside pro Luba Musktuk, and following his exit the star was forced hit back at claims he had to be ‘calmed down backstage.’ 

Footballer Alex Scott also had to adjust to last minute change in partner during Halloween Week, after her professional partner Neil Jones injured his leg just hours before the live show.
