STRICTLY fans believe the show has been hit with a new curse after suffering a record number of injuries and illnesses than ever before.

The infamous curse usually affects celebrities and their dance partners relationships, but viewers now reckon the new curse is to blame for the long list of injuries and illnesses this series.

Taking to Twitter, a viewer wrote: “Honestly the real Strictly curse is the injuries and illnesses this season.”

While another listed the names of celebrities and professional dancers, including Jamie Laing, Amy Dowden, Dianne Buswell, Katya Jones, Janette Manrara, Will Bayley and Neil Jones, who they have affected by a set back throughout the course of the competition.

A third stated: “This is the new strictly curse.”

Speculation of a new curse comes days after Will, 31, was forced to withdraw from the show.

The table tennis star, who landed awkwardly during a jump, was told he had to withdraw from the competition all together after missing out on Saturday’s live show due to a knee injury.

Will, paired with Janette, said: “I’m gutted my Strictly journey has had to come to an end. I’ve loved being part of the show, and am so grateful for the phenomenal support we have received.

“I want to say a special thank you to Janette for believing in me, and giving me the confidence to believe in myself.

“The things we achieved, from our couple’s choice dance, through to the lifts in our salsa, will stay with me forever. I’ve had the time of my life.”

The painful injury, believed to be a torn knee ligament, is the second forced withdrawal this year after Made in Chelsea’s Jamie pulled out before the series had even begun, with Emmerdale actor Kelvin Fletcher taking his place.

Professional dancer Neil was also forced to miss a live show due a knee injury, while Dianne and Katya have both suffered from falls.

There have also been reports of a sickness bug spreading amongst the contestants, with bosses doing everything they could to stop the germs from spreading.

The Daily Star said that execs “got loads of medicine in” – and dished out hand sanitiser in a bid to prevent healthy celebs falling ill.

An insider explained: “Everyone is working hard and obviously they get up close and personal with each other as they dance.

“When someone gets sick it quickly spreads through the cast.”

They added: “Lots of people have been under the weather but the show must go on.”
