Strictly Come Dancing's Shirley Ballas likes tweet slamming Corrie star


Shirley Ballas has left fans furious after she decided to give the former Coronation Street actress and her dancing partner Johannes Radebe the boot during Sunday evening’s eviction show.

The head judge took to her official Twitter page after the results show on Sunday and went on to like several tweets which backed her decision to keep BBC Breakfast presenter Mike Bushell in the dancing competition.

Wirral born, head Strictly judge , Shirley, 59, liked a tweet which seemed to criticise the mum-of-one’s dancing.

The tweet said: “Completely agree! Catherine has been wooden and stompy for weeks, not much improvement from week to week. Mike was technically better last night.

“@ShirleyBallas has a tough job, but she had to do it, the twitter hate campaign will stop soon enough.”

The Northerner even went on to like a tweet which suggested that Craig Revel-Horwood should be responsible for Catherine’s axing.

The user tweeted: “My God do I feel sorry for @ShirleyBallas getting all this abuse!

“She had a job to do and she used her professional experience. Why does that deserve death threats?

“And why isn’t Craig getting the same backlash? His vote contributed to it all! People need to grow up! #Strictly”

Shirley has previously received death threats this series after she gave Radio One DJ, Dev Griffin, and YouTuber, Joe Sugg’s girlfriend, Dianne Buswell the axe from the competition.

Shirley stands by her decision to send Catherine home

The dancer told The Sun at the recent Pride of Britain Awards: “Every time someone goes out someone gets upset.

“I have one question – why was Catherine in the bottom two?”

She went on to add: “I stand by my decision. Why was she there in the bottom two?

“You can’t complain if it ends up like that. It’s about what they do there and then. And I know I absolutely made the right decision. Every week we could have the same conversation.”

During the show, 36-year-old Catherine broke down and sobbed when she realised that her time in the competition had come to an end.

She and Johannes scored a mere 24 out of a possible 40, whereas Mike scored 25.

After competing in the dance-off, it was a tiebreaker for the couples with Shirley having the final say.

The Daily Mirror’s Pride of Britain Awards will be broadcast on ITV on 5 November at 8pm
