Strictly Come Dancing’s Oti Mabuse shows no mercy in Kelvin Fletcher’s first rehearsal

Strictly Come Dancing professional Oti Mabuse has wasted no time in whipping Kelvin Fletcher into action.

The duo shared a behind-the-scenes video from their first rehearsals together on Mabuse’s Instagram Story.

The two stars have a lot of catching up to do as the former Emmerdale actor, 35, was drafted in as a last-minute replacement after original star Jamie Laing suffered an injury while filming last weekend’s launch show.

Speaking in a frank social media video, Fletcher confessed: “The warm up this morning, I was tired after the warm up.

“We hadn’t even started dancing and I was like, ‘I can’t go anymore.'”

In the post, Mabuse revealed the they were still in the dance studio at 9.30pm.

Responding to Fletcher’s comment, she laughed: “You didn’t say it, you gave me a look. You were like, ‘I can’t…’ and I was like, ‘oh, this is going to be fun’.”

Mabuse then laughed as Fletcher complained about a simple stretch.

Kelvin said: “Well a stretch, whatever it was, I was shattered. That’s one thing I need to work on, my flexibility.

“I’m not mobile enough, am I? I was getting into positions and you were like, ‘Stretch more, Kelvin.'”

The post came hours after the soap star shared a clip of himself arriving at the dance studio.

He told his Instagram followers: “I’ve just arrived at the rehearsal room and I’m looking forward to starting my training today with Oti.

“I’m really looking forward to seeing her actually. Obviously I only met her last Thursday but I’ve actually missed her.”

Fletcher confirmed he was joining the line-up last weekend, calling his last-minute place on the show “dream come true”.

He pointed out that he was joining the show under “bittersweet” circumstances as he expressed his sympathy for Made In Chelsea star Laing.

Fletcher, from Oldham, Greater Manchester, joins fellow soap stars Catherine Tyldesley, formerly of Coronation Street, and Emma Barton, from EastEnders, on the star-studded roster.

He will make his Strictly debut in the first live show on Saturday September 21.
