Strictly Come Dancing star sparks marriage speculation with cryptic Instagram post

Strictly Come Dancing star Aston Merrygold, 30, shared a picture of his and Sarah’s Royal Ascot invitation and name tags on Instagram today.

Aston’s name tag spelled out his name, but fans were quick to realise Sarah’s name tag also had Merrygold instead of Richards as her surname.

In view of his 295,000 followers, he commented: “When you see it.”

Aston’s post prompted many of his fans to speculate the pair had secretly tied the knot.

One user wrote: “Have you got secretly married?”

A second commented: “You guys got marriedddddd?!?! Omg congratsssss!!”(sic)

A third penned: “Have you gotten married!?!?”

Express.co.uk has contacted a representative for Aston for comment.

Aston and Sarah, who share son Grayson together, got engaged on Christmas Eve back in December.

Back on Valentine’s Day last year, Aston hinted the special day will be Sarah’s last as a Richards.

He shared a throwback snap of him proposing to Sarah to mark the special day on Instagram.

Aston wrote: “This is that mad love, cry when you cry love, that die if your die love, that fight if you fight love.”

He added: “Happy Valentine’s Day @sarahlourichards, the last Valentine’s Day you’ll be Richards HAPPY Valentine’s Day everybody!”(sic)

Following the birth of their son Grayson a month previously, Aston told Express.co.uk the pair will discuss their wedding plans in “a couple of months”.

He previously said: “We have spoken about the wedding a lot but haven’t made any plans.

“I think for us, we’ve got the baby and we’re opening a dance studio at the same time. It’s third on the list.

“We will get the baby sorted and comfortable then the studio, and then we can do the wedding in a couple of months.”

Aston also spoke of the couple’s desires to have another baby together.

He said: “Two for us would be a good number, we’ve both said If we ever did want to go again, two for us is a good number.”

When asked if the couple would like to have a girl this time around, he replied: “I never mind, if it was a girl now or a boy, from myself and Sarah, the gender thing, we left it until he [Grayson] was born to find out that he was a boy, so we’re not pressured about finding out early or finding out if it was a boy or a girl.

“We are just happy, and health is most important in this scenario. Don’t get me wrong some of my friends were like, ‘Oh you want a little boy, oh you want a little girl,’ but you just want a healthy baby.”
