Strictly Come Dancing 2019: Star spills all on 'restrictions' to signing up for BBC show

Jamie, 30, is best known for his role on Made in Chelsea and is the second-ever reality star to take part in Strictly Come Dancing.

The Only Way is Essex star Mark Wright, 32, was the first contest to come from the field back in 2014, with it taking five years for another reality star to appear on the BBC dance show.

With Jamie’s signing, other personalities from the likes of Love Island have their eyes set on a coveted spot on the BBC dance show in the future.

Ahead of Jamie’s appearance in this year’s line-up, his Made in Chelsea co-stars have spoken out about the reality star taking part in the show.

Although Jamie is committed to his Strictly stint, he will also be filming Made in Chelsea as the two shows run side-by-side this autumn.

Jamie will be seen interacting with his fellow cast mates on the reality show such as Sophie Habboo, 25, Alex Mitten, 28, and Olivia Bentley, 23.

The latter spoke with Express.co.uk at the launch of the 18th series of Made in Chelsea and revealed she can’t wait to see her co-star strut his stuff.

However, Olivia did speak of the “restrictions” in place for personalities from the reality world taking part in any form of celebrity contest show.

“Reality TV people I think are quite restricted on doing a lot of shows,” Olivia explained.

Revealing she was happy Jamie was a part of this years line-up, the reality personality added: “I actually think he’ll do quite well.”

“I hope he does. I think he’ll be quite funny,” she continued.

“I cannot imagine him in those leotards and things though. That will be the best part of it.”

Fans will get their first glimpse of Jamie strutting his stuff on the dance floor when the show returns in just under one weeks time on September 7.

Last week, the Strictly Twitter account began the countdown to the shows return after the line-up was confirmed earlier this month.

Alongside Jamie, celebrities from the world of soap and sport as well as presenters, comedians and viral sensations will be taking to the dance floor.

It has also been revealed the professional line-up will be suffering a shake-up with two male dancers announcing they won’t be partnered with celebrities this year.

Gorka Marquez, 28, and Graziano Di Prima, 25, will be featuring in the show in some format as they will partake in group dances.

The professionals will also be joined by newcomer Nancy Xu, 28, who will be filling the role of Pasha Kovalev, 39, who left the show earlier this year.

Ahead of the Strictly return next week, a short trailer was dropped last week showing the professionals getting ready.

Nancy was missing from the trailer however, so fans will get their first glimpse of the star during the launch show next Saturday.

Strictly Come Dancing 2019 returns Saturday 7 at 7.10pm on BBC One.
