Strictly Come Dancing 2019: Mike Bushell makes dig at judges after elimination

Strictly Come Dancing lost Mike Bushell and Katya Jones last night after the pair faced the dance off for the fourth week running. The pair faced Michelle Visage and Giovanni Pernice who were one hurdle too high to overcome.

Mike sent a message in to BBC Breakfast this morning after explaining he was just too tired to make it in to the studio today.

Appearing on camera in a blue floral shirt, the Strictly star said: “Hi everybody at BBC Breakfast, my friends there that work on the sofa, behind the scenes, all the people watching at home.

“Thank you so much for all the love and support you’ve shown me on my Strictly journey – it’s been so special.

“It’s been life-changing completely.”

Mike continued: “I hope it shows how good dancing is for you physically, mentally. I feel a lot sharper and it’s made me deal with the pressure a lot more.

“I loved every send of it, it was a real honour to do it and it really made me believe what was possible with dance.

“I want to show people never to be worried about being rubbish of embarrassed for doing something new because you think you can’t do it.

“Just believe, have fun, and go along with your mates.”

“I didn’t let myself down – I hope – in the dance off. Katya actually said it was my best dance – she’s the judge I listen to.

“I wanted to go out celebrating, that’s why I tried one of the lifts from previous weeks but I forgot about the dress we had.

“I said to Chris [Ramsey] before, ‘Let’s do something fun, let’s do the Conga or something’. Let’s get the judges up, let’s get Claudia and Tess up.

“I did check with Katya to check she wouldn’t be upset in the middle but she loved it and she was really a part of it. It was just a real celebration.”

What’s more, the BBC Breakfast presenter said how proud he was to have been contacted by men of his age who were taking up the dancing challenge.

Last night though, fans weren’t happy to see Michelle go up against Mike, considering how well she performed over the weekend.

Some said they were “fuming” to see the RuPaul’s Drag Race UK star in the bottom two, but she took it in her stride.

Strictly Come Dancing continues Saturday on 7.05pm for its Blackpool special.
