Strictly Come Dancing 2019: ‘It was so stressful’ Natasha Kaplinsky drops shock revelation

Strictly Come Dancing is without a doubt one of the most gruelling challenges on TV.

Now, former winner, Natasha Kaplinsky, has opened up about just what it’s like being a part of the BBC talent show.

The BBC newsreader spoke exclusively to Express.co.uk about how she “wished” she had relaxed a little more on Strictly.

She explained: “I wish that I’d enjoyed it more because I didn’t because it was so stressful.

“It was the first series and no one knew whether it would be successful or not.

“It was a massive risk to take part in the programme.

“I had just joined the BBC and I was hosting BBC Breakfast at the time. I couldn’t square the circle of a news girl in sequins.

“I couldn’t work out how that was going to work and actually it worked fine and many have gone on to do the show after me.”

Natasha continued: “Obviously, I feel incredibly proud I ended up being the first winner and it’s now a show that’s kind of taken over the world.

“That feels like a huge sense of achievement but I wish I’d enjoyed it more.

“I wish I’d carried on dancing because dancing with a drunk husband doesn’t compare to dancing with a world class professional!”

Natasha is about to take part in Kirstie’s Celebrity Craft Masters, with Kirstie Allsopp.

The series sees Britain’s best-loved celebrities attempt to create some tricky homemade items in order to beat their competitors.

Natasha goes head-to-head with Jo Wood in her round, and it seemed the idea of making things was right up both of their streets.

She explained: “I’ve always had the yearning to be creative but over the years I lost the chance to be able to do that.
