Strictly Come Dancing 2019: Has Katya Jones been dropped from line-up after Seann snog?

Strictly Come Dancing star Katya Jones made headlines last year when she locked lips with her celebrity dance partner Seann Walsh.

It was announced earlier this year she would be a part of the professional line-up when the show returns in later 2019.

However, The Sun have now reported she has been dropped from the show claiming Katya is “gutted” over the decision.

An unnamed source told the publication: “Katya thinks she is being punished for her actions and the scandal she caused.

“She feels BBC bosses are saying she can’t be trusted to act professionally with a celebrity.”

It has been reported bosses gave her an ultimatum saying she could “accept a reduced role as a back-up or walk away”.

The source added it is “frustrating” as the dancer has already put “time and effort” this year’s series.

They continued: “But producers were adamant. While they let her stay in the cast they can’t condone her behaviour or all the drama she caused.

“No one is bigger than the show.”

The source also added Katya “can’t leave” and “has to support Neil like he has done her for so many years”.

Express.co.uk has contacted the BBC and a representative for Katya Jones for comment but is yet to hear back.

More to follow…

Last year, Katya and Seann were pictured kissing outside a London pub.

The pair both issued a public apology on It Takes Two last year. Katya said: “I apologise to everyone it hurt and it involved.

“But the main thing for me, is me and Neil are fine. I’m focussing on my job and doing it as a professionally as I can.”

Meanwhile, Seann’s ex-girlfriend Rebecca Humphries broke up with the comedian after the kiss.

Speaking on It Takes Two, Seann said: “First of all I would rather not be having to address this publicly but I feel like I have to.

“I made a mistake which I am very sorry for, I’m sorry for the hurt I caused, you never think about the extent of the damage you are going to do in the mistake that you made.

“I am not perfect, far from it. Our relationship wasn’t perfect, that doesn’t mean I wanted it to end the way it finally did,” he continued.

“I am very sorry for that. It is also important for me to say, the people who know me the most, who love me, know I am not the person I am being portrayed as.

“I’m still sorry for what I did but it’s very important for me to get that out there.”

Strictly Come Dancing will return to BBC One in the Autumn.
