Reds’ striker Roberto Firmino was going off to be replaced by James Milner late on when the tattooed offender took his chance to run on.

The pitch invader certainly showed a useful turn of speed for someone running with their trousers round their knees.

And having seen Norwich work their socks off, he then took his shorts down.

Underneath those, despite being a Canaries’ fan, he was sadly not even wearing budgie-smugglers.

And after watching his team grounded by the Champions League winners, he almost had more than his pride hurt as he dived to the ground belly first, trousers second.

But his streaker luck ended as he was sandwiched by two security officials.

He got his come-uppance as he was gently grabbed and taken down.

Firmino was caught grinning as he looked round to see the man lying spreadeagled on the turf after being caught.

The intervention came with Liverpool seeing out their opening-day victory after leading 4-0 at half-time.

Teemu Pukki hit Norwich‘s consolation on their Premier League return just past the hour.

And if that goal showed travelling fans they could bear to watch more, one of their supporters decided he could bare to show all.

But the streaker’s actions, four minutes from time. quickly came to a head and were promptly dealt with.

And afterwards, far from having their tails between their legs, the Canaries insisted they were happy with their display.

Boss Daniel Farke told the BBC: “I’m totally in love with this team.

“The mentality to win the second half in front of an excited home crowd, we showed great character.

“No-one wanted to hear it at half-time but I told them we had the same possession and had created more chances. Liverpool had scored four though.

“It was tough to take but I felt we were not too far away from a good result.”

And with Farke arguing Norwich rose to the occasion on his top-flight debut, Kop boss Jurgen Klopp too claimed the Canaries were “cheeky”.

He said: “We had to control the game more.

“Norwich showed up and stayed cheeky and lively after 60 minutes – it was impressive.”
