Stranger Things season three becomes Netflix's most watched series EVER

Season 4 of Stranger Things is already in production.

And based on Netflix’s viewing figures for the third season of their hit sci-fi series, it’s little wonder the streaming giant are moving full steam ahead on their flagship show.

Season 3 was viewed by more than 60 million member households in its first month, Netflix’s quarterly earning report revealed Wednesday.

Netflix claimed that their groundbreaking drama clocked up in excess of 64 million views in the four weeks after its July 4 premiere.

The previous high for a series was The Umbrella Academy, which garnered 45 million within a four week period.

The streaming giant counts any member household watching at least 70 percent of one episode as a ‘view’.

Meanwhile, Hopper’s fate was left unclear after Stranger Things‘ dramatic season three finale.

And an eagle-eyed fan claims that the hit Netflix show has begun filming its fourth season, as they spotted Hopper’s car in Georgia, USA, earlier this month.

Taking to Reddit to share their insider information, one insider shared photos from Rome in the US state, where they spotted the police chief’s vehicle parked without its signature ‘Hawkins Police’ markings put in place yet.

In another picture obtained by the fan, the crew could be seen preparing to film using a mounted camera that was attached to another car.

The user told fellow Reddit fans: ‘Filming has begun in Rome, Georgia. They’re currently filming behind my brother’s house on E 9th.’

While Hopper’s car was spotted, actor David Harbour was not seen on set reprising his character, nor did any of the other cast make an appearance.

This comes after David called the Duffer Brothers in the middle of an interview to demand answers about his character’s ‘death’ in season three.

Hopper had broken into a secret Russian base to close the gate to the Upside Down alongside Joyce Byers (Winona Ryder), and is unable to leave the room where the portal is based.

Despite his potential demise, the police chief encourages Joyce to go through with their plan to activate the gate machine shutdown, and when she looks back into the room Hopper has disappeared.

Speaking on Late Night with Seth Meyers earlier this month, the actor said: ‘Well, here’s the thing. I always knew that Hopper had to make a sacrifice.

‘Like, he’s a jerk, and he also needs to pay for that in some way… so I thought he’d make the sacrifice.’

The star then began to worry about his future on the show, telling the host ‘I haven’t gotten many phone calls’, before making the decision to call Matt and Ross Duffer live on air.

Determined to get some answers about his fate, he asked: “Am I dead? Is Hopper dead?’

To which the TV producer Ross responded: ‘I mean, we’re still figuring it out, David.’

The show has been renewed for season four, but no release date has been set.
